Objective

Analysis, Advice and Communication between Academia and Practice

The funding initiative "Future Issues of our Society – Analysis, Advice and Communication between Academia and Practice" was launched in March 2002. The initiative was aimed at promoting problem-oriented basic research on important topics surrounding societal change at the start of the 21st century. The central focus was on building bridges between academia and the practice. Over the course of the funding initiative it was possible to try out a number of different forms of cooperation within the context of varying calls for project proposals dealing with specific "Future Issues of Society". The calls "Individual and Societal Perspectives of ageing" and "Study Groups for Migration and Integration" have meanwhile been closed.

In 2010, the focus of funding in this area was shifted to the program "Europe and Global Challenges", and the initiative will in future be run under this new banner.
