Consequences of the coronavirus pandemic for the Foundation

Please note the following changes in application deadlines

 

September 09 2020 - With up to 500,000 euros, the Volkswagen Foundation is now supporting research projects at German universities that are dedicated to developing antiviral agents against new and little-researched viruses.

July 20 2020 - The pandemic has a huge impact on research: Projects are delayed or even fail completely to get off the ground. New fields of research are vaguely beginning to emerge. All this calls for agile and flexible action, and the Volkswagen Foundation is gearing up for it.

July 1 2020 - Strong demand for new funding offer / Events are now being held / The Board of Trustees meets for the summer session

May 6, 2020 - The Volkswagen Foundation supports research projects from all disciplines whose findings not only contribute directly to overcoming the coronavirus-crisis, but can also provide impetus for overcoming major societal challenges in the medium to long term. Deadline: June 4, 2020. (Additional modules available for grant recipients of projects currently funded by the Foundation) 

May 5, 2020 - The corona crisis is forcing universities to push ahead with the digitization of their teaching and examination offerings. The MWK and the Volkswagen Foundation support this innovation boost with 8 million euros. In addition to individual measures that can be funded ad hoc, there will also be a long-term overall strategy: "Hochschule.digital Niedersachsen".

May 4, 2020 - Dieter Lehmann, Head of Asset Management at the Volkswagen Foundation, explains the effects of the corona crisis on the Foundation's assets and approved projects. In a video interview he shows how foundations can protect themselves against crises.
