The Foundation is currently planning a networking opportunity for postdoctoral candidates interested in submitting an application for the call "International Research in Computational Social Sciences" under funding line 2 (international Cooperation of Postdoctoral Scholars). The workshop is organized in cooperation with Professor Markus Strohmaier (GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences and University Koblenz Landau) and will be held in Cologne, Germany on February 23 to 26, 2016.

The workshop is directed at postdoctoral researchers worldwide who are interested in collaborating with others in an international cooperative project. The event offers an opportunity to get to know and network with other postdocs – who might turn out to be potential partners for a cooperative project. Furthermore, it will provide space to develop ideas for joint projects. Please note that – as indicated in the call – the PhD must have been completed within the last three years prior to the deadline of applications (after 15 June 2013).

Application Details

Deadline for submitting short applications to participate in the workshop is December 10, 2015. Applications should be submitted in English and consist of a brief personal motivation to participate (up to two pages) and a CV. Please send these two documents as pdf-version to css(at)volkswagenstiftung.de. The Foundation covers participation in the event as well as the cost of travel and accommodation.

Participation in this workshop does in no way affect the chances of succeeding in acquiring a grant for a cooperative project; neither is it a prerequisite for submitting an application under funding
line 2 (with deadline on 15 June 2016).
