Survival: Documentaries about diseases of poverty

The documentary series "Survival" - produced for BBC World News - sets its focus onto neglected tropical diseases. In cooperation with the film production company rockhopper.tv an impressive series concerning diseases of poverty was made, of which we can offer you two excerpts here.

Ali Balla, a farmer from Niger, was chosen to distribute drugs in his village. He is one of 17,000 helpers in total who started fighting neglected tropical diseases in villages and nomadic communities of Niger. An ambitious aid program, the goal of which is to defeat these diseases of poverty in the course of the next five years. Watch the movie to follow Ali Balla's story.

 

Dr. Florent Mbo is a member of the national control program against sleeping disease in the Democratic Republic of Kongo. Take a look at his work in remote areas along Congo River, where medical infrastructure is lacking greatly.
