Grant recipients of projects currently funded by the Foundation have the opportunity to apply for additional funds to integrate refugee scholars and scientists into their research projects.

The Volkswagen Foundation aims to support refugee scholars and scientists in pursuing their research careers in Germany and to contribute to their integration into German society as well as the local science system.

At their meeting on April 8th 2016, the Board of Trustees decided to create the possibility for grant recipients of projects currently funded by the Foundation to submit applications for additional funds. In addition to the grants already made, grant recipients can apply for up to EUR 200,000 to integrate refugee scholars and scientists into their research projects.
