European Platform for Life Sciences, Mind Sciences, and the Humanities
Deadline for the second call: February 01, 2010
This initiative aims at advancing the networking of young academics doing research at the interface between the cognitive neurosciences and the humanities and social sciences. The “platform” shall help to break open the boundaries between the disciplines, thus boosting the development of this new field.
55 young researchers from all over Europe now form the “European Platform for Life Sciences, Mind Sciences, and the Humanities”. They first met in October 2006 in Döllnsee near Berlin where several interdisciplinary study groups were established. By the end of January 2007 these groups had framed the concept of their joint studies. After international scientific peer review of the applications eight study groups were funded. A short summary and the names of the participants can be found on our site. The groups cover the following topics:
- How do we make decisions?
Special Issue "Cognitive, Affective & Behavioral Neuroscience" - Subjective Time - Phenomenological Property or Cognitive Construct?
Homepage - Pain: Why Others Matter/Psychological, Philosophical & Neuroscientific Perspectives
- Are thoughts motor processes?
Homepage - The Body-Project: interdisciplinary investigations on bodily experiences
- Finding Culturally (In)Dependent Levels of Self-Representation: The Case of Emotions
Homepage - Neuroscience in Context. Critical Perspectives, Neuroethics, and Anthropology
Homepage - Approaching the Dreaming Mind: Experimental Modification of Dreams within a New Neurophilosophical Framework
