Annotierte Übersetzung der chinesischen Enzyklopädie der Arznei- und Naturkunde Ben Cao Gang Mu (Fortsetzung)

Das BCGM wurde von einem Team um den chinesischen Arzt Li Shizhen (1518-1593) verfaßt und ist die bedeutendste chinesische Enzyklopädie der Naturgeschichte des 16. Jahrhunderts. Das Werk wurde im Jahre Mai 2011 zum Weltkulturerbe erklärt. Die Beschreibung natürlicher Arzneidrogen pflanzlichen, mineralischen und tierischen Ursprungs steht im Mittelpunkt dieses Werkes. Darüber hinaus sind darin jedoch auch umfangreiches Wissen zu den traditionellen chinesischen Bio- und Naturwissenschaften sowie unzählige Verweise auf die gesellschaftliche Einbettung dieses Wissens enthalten. Eine wissenschaftlichen Ansprüchen genügende Übersetzung des BCGM in eine europäische Sprache liegt zum gegenwärtigen Zeitpunkt nicht vor. Dies ist in erster Linie den außerordentlichen Schwierigkeiten, die mit einer solchen Übersetzung verbunden sind, geschuldet. Das durch die VolkswagenStiftung mit 450.000 EUR geförderte 30-monatige Pilotprojekt zielte darauf ab, eine standardisierte englischsprachige Übersetzung der termini technici und deren computergestützte Erfassung zu bewerkstelligen. Um die bereits geleisteten Vorarbeiten zu einem sinnvollen Abschluss zu bringen, wird nunmehr die Erstellung eines vierbändigen Dictionary of BCGM terminology angestrebt.

Revision and implementation of the European Graduate School in Addiction Research (ESADD)

Substance use disorders are among the top group of mental disorders in Europe. The health and social costs are high and there is a high need for research in all fields. From 2008 to 2010 a first pilot trial for an innovative organisational concept and curriculum for the education of PhD and MD students with a focus on addiction was developed. The two year programme with participants from all over Europe provides a university based educational structure with three overall targets: (1) to promote international competitive scientific excellence in addiction research, (2) to support interdisciplinary cooperation and problem solving and (3) to enhance European networking in addiction research for young scientists. ESADD is the only programme of this kind in Europe. Its targets fully accord with the Bologna Declaration to actively support mobility and cooperation of academic staff in a common higher education area in Europe. Based on the results and evaluation of the first trial, two additional cohorts will get the possibility to participate in this school which will be eventually implemented at the University of Dresden, the DUI and two cooperative Universities in Amsterdam and Barcelona in a routine setting.

Erarbeitung des Jahresgutachtens 2012 "Kommunen und Integration im Mehrebenensystem Deutschlands"

Nachdem das Jahresgutachten 2010 des unabhängigen wissenschaftlichen Expertengremiums des Sachverständigenrates für Integration und Migration und dessen Geschäftsstelle ein thematisch breit angelegtes Gutachten über Integration und Integrationspolitik war und das Jahresgutachten 2011 Migration und Migrationspolitik beleuchtete, widmet sich das Jahresgutachten 2012 wieder den Themen Integration und Integrationspolitik.

Sommerschulreihe "Summer School of Modern Mathematics" in den Jahren 2011, 2013 und 2015

This summer school series is an introduction to top-level mathematical research topics for highly selected international students at the age of transition between high school and university. Presentations and mini-courses will be given by international leading mathematicans that are able to communicate exciting current mathematics research to selected students at the target age - and who are willing to spend several days together with these young people. The summer school is scheduled to be organized annually, alternating in location between Bremen/Germany and France. The close contact between leading scientists and students, but also among the international participating students from high schools and universities, should help bridge the gap between high school and universities, between learning and research at the highest level.
